17 x 11 print on semigloss paper
The painting is part of my "Try Angles" series, persona poems wrap around the image, but I didn't have a poem until recently. The text will soon be applied to the painting and both versions will be available.
The Sun
Don’t look at me.
Your warming planet is not my doing.
My temps remain the same for millennia.
Greenhouse gases are your undoing.
Don’t look at me.
You trap the heat while space awaits
your planet’s warmth. Instead,
your waters warm, create the storms.
Don’t look at me.
I may be a dwarf star, but I can hold
a million Earths. Shards of ultraviolent
will shutter your gaze, rob you of skin.
Let me rise on your horizon
Feed your greens with strands of light—
my shining feat that keeps you
nourished dawn through night.
